The 15 Best Cafes on the Gold Coast: A Local's Guide

It’s no secret that I adore living in the Gold Coast. I’m also a huge fan of great coffee, great food and aesthetic cafes, so I want to share my favourite Gold Coast cafes with you all.

We’ve lived here long enough now to know where to find the best coffee in Gold Coast, the best Gold Coast breakfast spots and the cute cafes Gold Coast has to offer.

If you’re heading to Gold Coast, don’t miss the best cafes in Gold Coast! (And if you run into us since we are always eating in these cafes, make sure to say hello!)

Best Cafes in Gold Coast

Barefoot Barista Cafe

You can find Barefoot Barista in Palm Beach, and they’re a must-visit if you’re on the hunt for the best Gold Coast coffee. They serve artisanal coffee, and whether you’re a cold brew fan or prefer a speciality roast, they’ve got you covered.

It’s not just their coffee that I love. They also have an awesome menu with heaps of veggie, vegan and gluten-free options which is one of my faves! Plus they have all-day breakfast options and a great lunch menu.

Favourite thing on the menu: Avocado toast, add poached eggs and corn salsa! Iced oat milk mocha is heavenly here.

The Paddock Bakery

The Paddock Bakery is one of the best cafes in Burleigh!

The Paddock Bakery is just full of yummy, freshly baked goods every day and their menu is huge. There is so many choices that you can’t go wrong if you’re visiting here with a big group - there’s something for everyone!

This spot is also super cute because it feels like you’re in a quaint, cosy house that smells amazing!

They don’t take reservations here though, so if you’re visiting on a weekend, be prepared for a wait if you’d like a table.

Favourite thing on the menu: Purple toast add avocado! The dippy eggs if you want something a bit different.

Highline Palm Beach

Highline Palm Beach is another gem in Palm Beach!

What it lacks in size, it makes up for with great food and coffee. You can’t go wrong with their avo toast or vego roll, and they always make you feel super welcome here.

This is one of the best coffee shops in Gold Coast for coffee on the go too, and I love the retro vibes.

Tarte Bakery & Cafe

Not only do I love the minimal aesthetic at Tarte Bakery & Cafe, but I also love their super unique menu and gorgeous location in Burleigh Heads.

Their breakfast burrito, nourish bowl and avo toast are all favourites. They have loads of choices on the menu for breakfast and lunch, as well as fresh baked goods and pastries every day. Definitely a contender for the best breakfast in the Gold Coast!

There are some serious European alfresco cafe vibes here, with outdoor seating perfect for enjoying the weather all year round and people watching too!

Commune Cafe

Commune is all about the vibe! They’re a super laid back, hipster cafe with a vintage aesthetic.

This is another great option if you’re searching for Burleigh Heads coffee shops, and they also have a big focus on organic food. Their Gone Nuts Acai Bowl is my personal fave!

Commune is just a generally welcoming and lovely place to hang out and enjoy some breakfast or lunch on the Gold Coast, especially with friends and family.

The Milkman’s Daughter

For the best vegan cafes in Gold Coast, look no further than The Milkman’s Daughter.

This is a super cute, small cafe in Mermaid, and it’s a must-visit for Gold Coast coffee, vegetarian and vegan dishes and incredible pancakes!

I also love their focus on conscious eating and a nourishing food experience.

Their dishes are so beautifully presented and colourful you almost don’t want to eat them. Definitely one of the best breakfast cafes Gold Coast has!

Niche & Co

Niche & Co is one of the best Gold Coast cafes, and that’s not just my opinion. Niche & Co has been voted the best acai bowl on the coast!

They have a super casual, easy-going vibe and are located in Tugun. Whether you’re a visitor or live nearby, Niche & Co always makes you feel like a welcomed local.

Don’t miss their yum coffee too!

Tugun Fruit & Flowers

Another spot in Tugun that I LOVE is Tugun Fruit & Flowers, and it’s just down the road from Niche & Co.

They’re actually a greengrocers and florist, so although they’re not technically a cafe on the Gold Coast, they are a real hidden gem!

They offer takeaway only and they’re seriously acai bowl heaven. You just have to try one if you’re nearby!

Treat yourself to an acai bowl, a beautiful bunch of flowers and a stroll down Tugun beach to start your day with all the feel good vibes!

Good Day Coffee is another Tugun top spot and also the best avo toast on the Gold Coast - seriously you have to try it. I always think I’ll try and order something different, but I go back to this avocado toast every time!

Good Day also has amazing cookies, baked goods, pastries and of course, coffee. It’s actually been voted in the top 25 coffee shops in the whole of Australia - so you can’t miss this one if you’re a coffee enthusiast!

Palm Springs is a pretty new cafe in Burleigh Head, but I just love the aesthetic here and their simple menu.

They have a gorgeous white and pastel green interior and a great outdoor seating area with all the Palm Springs vibes.

Watson Bloom

Watson Bloom is my go-to spot in Palm Beach for when I want to eat clean. They have great healthy takeaway options, vegan options and coffee of course!

I love their super minimal aesthetic and wonderful staff there.

The cafe is in an ideal location to grab your morning coffee and head out for a walk on the beach too.

BSKT Cafe

I love BSKT because their menu is super healthy but soo tasty too!

They focus on modern, organic Aussie food. Everything is super light and fresh on their breakfast and lunch menus, with vegan choc chip pancakes, healthy eggs benny and miso salmon. They even offer yoga classes too!

The whole location in Mermaid Beach is super chic and hip, with a cool industrial interior. Honestly such a cool cafe on the Gold Coast!

Custard Canteen

I love this spot in Gold Coast. It’s always such a cool atmosphere at Custard Canteen and being out in front of the Recreation Centre at Tallebudgera, there’s a cool outdoor space with loads of seating to enjoy the atmosphere and the sunshine.

Their signature is Pastel de Nata (Portuguese baked custard tarts), and they make them fresh throughout the day, so this is an amazing spot even just for a snack and a spot to chill out during your day. Plus they make it super easy for you to order on their app too.

But honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of their breakfast, lunch, snacks, burgers or baked goods - they’re all delish!

Pasture & Co

I adore this spot! The location is everything!

You’ll find this cafe much further inland in the Currumbin Valley, and it’s surrounded by nature. You can sit outside on the grass with your food and enjoy the sights and sounds of the country and being away from the city.

Their food is all organic, fresh and super healthy options with local and seasonal produce.

Pasture & Co is just inside the Eco Village here, so you can spend some time exploring or just grab a rug to sit on outside the cafe and enjoy their yummy brunch menu and coffee.
